1st Grade students learned about the different types of cacti and how they survive in the desert climate. We also looked at artwork and pottery created by the people of the American South West. Students drew their own cacti making sure to pay close attention to overlap. Students used popular southwest patterns to create their pot and colored the project using a marker and water technique and chalk pastel.

Kindergarteners were read one of Ms. Golden's favorite books, The Monster at the End of This Book. We discussed different types, sizes, and thicknesses of lines to create the hole in the wall. Each student created their own monster to go into the hole using their knowledge of line and shape. Finally, using oil pastel and watercolor the students colored and shaded their work.

Students learned the rules of two-point perspective and using t-squares, rulers, and vanishing points they created their house. Then each student was on their own to add original details and something to hold up their building, still making sure to follow the rules to two-point perspective. Students added color to their project using any medium or combinations of mediums to color their work. Click here for more student work. |
